Cowdray Greenkeeper has to settle for 2nd on home soil

February 2024's GTG event took us back to our local course Cowdray with a healthy group of 17. Despite being the greenkeeper here and probably averaging 4-5 rounds a week, Mr Moore junior couldn't live with the mighty Max, who won with an impressive 42 points off of a 17 handicap. Jack did manage second but still found himself 6 points off the winner.

Another notable thing to mention was nearest the pin, which took place on the difficult 3rd hole. Glen hit a lovely shot into around 5 feet which he must have thought had bagged him the £90 pot. However, with the sniff of a bit of money on offer Mr moneybags himself (Gilbert senior) in the last group put his shot to within 4 feet........never mind Glen, at least Arsenal won.

Jingles Reigns at the 2021 GTG Final

The GTG 2021 final was held this year at Pyrford GC where a field of 15 basked in the glorious September sunshine whilst trying to avoid the many water hazards on the course. This was going to be a day of whoever loses the least balls could be the winner.

The day got off to a good start with a full English breakfast enjoyed by all. The same could not be said for Hibby, who lost his sense of direction whilst walking to the first and was last seen walking down a dirt track in completely the wrong direction. A more helpful group of mates would have pointed out his error….but that wouldn't have been as funny.

With the new structure of the season in full flow, today's final would see the climax of the: Order of Merit, The singles and the double competitions.

A great day’s golf was had by all, with the final being won by Jingles with a whopping 44 points, which included 1 blob; Hibby's day did get better as he came in second with 37 points (3 blobs). Jingles also took the longest drive and the Nearest the pin prize was taken by Neil. It was a good day all round for Jingles who won the doubles with Neil, beating myself & Brian 65-59. The singles completion was taken by Hibby.
